This Privacy Policy explains how The Darklight ("we", "us", "our") with its office at 302, Sai Vihar, Jayesh Colony, Fatehgunj, Vadodara, Gujarat 390002, India, collects and uses personal data when you visit thedarklight.in, contact us, or use our services. For this data, we act as the Data Fiduciary.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive data such as financial account numbers, health data or government IDs through this website. Please do not send them to us.

Consent and how to withdraw it
When you submit a form or message us, you consent to us using your data for the purpose stated there. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@thedarklight.in, by replying "STOP" to our WhatsApp messages, or by using the unsubscribe link in our emails. Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it, and we may still keep data the law requires us to keep.

We use cookies and similar tools to run the site and understand how it is used:
- Essential cookies — needed for the site and forms to work
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity
- Advertising — Meta Pixel, Google Ads tags, used to measure and improve our ads

Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Website hosting and databases (e.g. Vercel, Supabase)
- CRM and email tools (e.g. HubSpot or Zoho, Resend or Brevo)
- WhatsApp Business API providers (e.g. Interakt, AiSensy or WATI) and Meta
- Analytics and advertising platforms (Google, Microsoft, Meta)
- AI service providers used to draft replies or summarise enquiries (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic), without using your data to train their models where that option is available
- Professional advisers, and government authorities when required by law
Some of these providers store data outside India. Where we transfer data abroad, we do so only to countries not restricted by the Government of India and with appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep data
- Enquiries that do not become projects: up to 24 months after last contact
- Client project and billing records: as long as required by tax and accounting law (generally 8 years)
- Job applications: up to 12 months
- Analytics data: as per the tool's retention settings, up to 14 months
After that, we delete or anonymise the data.
How we protect data
We use HTTPS encryption, access controls, two-factor authentication on business accounts, regular backups and limited staff access. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it
- Correct, complete or update your data
- Erase your data, where we no longer need it or are not required to keep it
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated
We will respond within 30 days, and in any case within the period the law allows.
Children
Our website and services are meant for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has shared data with us, contact us and we will delete it.
